The Grinch is a massively popular movie every year. With remakes featuring Jim Carrey the tradition of watching The Grinch has grown even more. In my home we always read the book one night, watch the original released in the 1970’s the next night, and finish it off with the remake from 2000. This year we will have our very own The Grinch Rice Krispie Treats to snack on as well!
Let the kids help make the movie snack this year. I’m sure they would love to be involved!
What you need
5-6 Kellogg’s Rice Krispie Bars
2 Cherry Airheads candy
1 cup White Chocolate Discs/Melts
1 cup White Vanilla Frosting
Green Food Coloring
Gold/Yellow Edible Glitter Dust
How to make Grinch Christmas Rice Krispie Treats
Unwrap Airheads, use a 1-inch circular object to cut out a circle (this is optional, but I found it easier to cut a heart shape when you start with a circle). Now, cut out a heart shape. Place on a parchment lined cookie sheet.
Put white chocolate discs in a microwave safe bowl. Microwave for 30 seconds, then stir. Continue to do this until discs are all melted.
Add the melted chocolate to the inside corner of a baggie.
Snip a VERY small hole in the corner. (A piping bag can be used as well).
On a parchment lined cookie sheet, pipe a square with broken pieces coming off.
Sprinkle with glitter dust. Continue to do this until you have all your pieces finished. Let Harden, about 10 minutes.
Take your frosting and put it in a bowl, then add food coloring. Add as many drops of coloring until you get the color you desire. I used about 10-12 drops of Neon Green and 3-4 drops of forest green.
Spread frosting on top of each rice krispie.
Take your broken box and set on top.
Place heart inside the box to finish.
Ready to serve. This recipe makes 5-6 Grinch Rice Krispie Treats.
Do you have family traditions that have a food attached to them? Id love to hear of them in the comments. Please enjoy our Grinch Rice Krispie Treats with your family this year!
