Uses for Shaving Cream

These 10 new uses for shaving cream are all great ways to use up a scent or brand that you didn’t like or just to help make things easier on yourself. Take a look at them, then let me know what you think in the comments! I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Make bathtub paint for the kids – Kids love playing in the tub and they especially get a kick out of being able to draw while they’re playing. Take an old muffin tin and fill each hole with shave cream. Add in several drops of food coloring to each one and stir. Use a different color for each hole in the tin and you’ve got budget friendly bathtub paint that easily washes away! I find that the silicone muffin pans are easier to clean and hold up longer in the water.  They won’t get rusty after long periods of using and storing.

Defog the bathroom mirror – Just like toothpaste, shave cream can be used to defog your bathroom mirror while you’re in the shower. Before you hop in, rub the mirror down with shave cream and a light cloth. Wipe clean and shower as normal while the mirror stays crystal clean!

Keep eyeglasses from fogging – Just like your bathroom mirror, eyeglasses can easily fog up when going from a cold temperature to a hot one or vice versa. To prevent that from happening, clean each of the lenses with a small amount of shave cream then wipe clean with a soft cloth.

Inexpensive jewelry cleaner – If you have old jewelry that needs a shine, or even cheap jewelry that’s looking a bit dull, rub a dollop of shave cream onto it and scrub gently with a soft bristled toothbrush. Your jewels will shine like new and you won’t have to buy an expensive jewelry cleaner!

Clean your hands – Shave cream is awesome for removing odors like onions, grease and even paint from your hands! Just add a good amount to your hands and rub the shave cream all over them. Wipe your hands off with a towel and you’ll have clean and non-smelly hands again!

Stop a squeaky door – Stop a squeaky door hinge from squeaking with a bit of shave cream. Add a small amount to each of the doors hinges and it will silence the doors squeaky song!

Kick expensive oven cleaners to the curb – Don’t buy those expensive canned oven cleaners. Instead, spray your oven with shave cream then scrub with a scrubbing pad. Let dry then rinse with water. Your oven should be perfectly clean!

Take care of carpet stains – Carpet stains can be the worst, but a bit of shaving cream can help! Cover the stain with shave cream then blot with a damp sponge. Let the spot dry overnight and vacuum in the morning. The stain should be gone!

Clean shower doors – If your shower doors are scummy from soap scum, clean them with shave cream! Spray shave cream on the door then wipe with a damp cloth. Wipe dry with a gentle cloth and they’ll be clean as new! This will also keep them from fogging up too!

Clean chrome fixtures – Chrome sink fixtures can show spots when you use water or other cleaning agents on them. To keep that from happening, clean them with shave cream! Add a small amount onto a damp sponge and wipe the fixture down. Wipe dry with a gentle cloth and voila! No spots! This also works for chrome kitchen fixtures too and will even help remove grease!
