In chapter 1 I had just returned home to my children. After having the worst possible day I could have ever imagined, I hugged my babies and did not want to let go. I knew just looking into their eyes I had to make a change. A change that would not just be for me, but also for them. Starting that very next day I started doing P90X Cardio and Abs daily. Starting weight for June was 204.6.
June Workouts
At first I barely made it through one whole workout. I took breaks, tried to catch my breath and could barely get off the floor to start the next set. My very first workout was the hottest mess you could possibly imagine. I’m not going to beat around the bush and sugar coat my life in this series. So, yes, I was jumping all over the place doing these exercises. Well, reality was I was going one way and parts of my body were going another. It was the most embarrassing thing EVER, and I was in the privacy of my own home. As the days went on the workouts were actually starting to look like I knew what I was doing. I took photos of myself after each workout and posted them to my facebook profile. It was my way to keep me on track.
(June 10, 2015)
I never said the photos I took of myself were great glamour shots! This is one of the good ones. Usually I was sweating so much that it appeared I was crying. Stay tuned, I’m sure some will make the following chapters.
I had a pair of jeans that, when I bought them, fit really well. However, as you can see below, they were starting to fall off my ass. I know some may be thinking, “Ah, look at that stomach, gross!”. Yes, this is another reason WHY I started to care about my health and fitness. Yes, those are stretch marks, THAT I EARNED from having 3 kids.
I kept busting my ass, everyday. I had a routine down by this time. Get up in the mornings, get the kids breakfast going and I would work out. I would ALWAYS lay out my work out clothes on my bathroom counter. Doing this also encouraged me. It was a constant reminder staring at me every morning.
I did take one day a week to be lazy, however I didn’t spend it eating Ho Ho’s and Ding Dongs. Id still run all over with my kids, went to the park, and got my steps in. Still watched what I consumed, I just did not work out and weighed myself daily (I was obsessed with the scale. We also had a love/hate relationship). On June 18, 2016 I hit a HUGE mile stone! I broke out of the 200’s and #OnederlandIsComing was no longer a goal. It was reality – I HAD DONE IT! Weighed in at 199.6. Yes, I totally did a happy dance.
July
I continued this rigorous routine daily, worked out, ate right, enjoyed life. Finding out who I was and was no longer putting others before my own happiness, other than my children. I was HAPPY. You would be very surprised at how the pounds fall off when your attitude on life and happiness changes. Final weigh in for July has me at 193.8. A total of 38.2 pounds lots so far.
(July 13, 2015)
Have you ever noticed the first places you tend to lost weight first? Evidently for me it was my boobs and face. My face thinned out, A LOT. My boobs decided to almost go away! OK, maybe not go away but I had to go shopping for new bras. The gal that assisted me in the store actually made me throw the bra I wore into the store in the trash and wear the new one out. It was quite funny. I felt accomplished that my journey was actually doing something. The results were there, even if I felt I couldn’t see them.
(same jeans from first pic. 7/13/15)
My jeans were literally not fitting anymore. I have a belt that I love and even it was not helping. I left this store with a new pair of jeans that were 2 whole sizes smaller. Final weigh in for July was 196.8 – a 3 pound weight gain, but I was loosing inches.
The P90X videos I use really do not take up a lot of your time. The cardio video is 45 minutes and the ab video is about 17. This is start to finish. Warm up and cool down. Take an hour of your day and dedicate that hour to yourself. I am almost positive there is an hour in your mornings that you can find to kick your own ass with P90X. You have time when your kids are getting ready for school and eating breakfast, set your alarm for a little earlier to get your work out in, if you need to – wait until the kids go to bed at night. Find YOU time!
Share with me your in process or success photos and stories in the comments. What works for you?
Until next week-

Hey Marissa,
So proud of you for putting yourself out there, glamour shots and all. Doesn’t matter if someone is struggling with their weight or not, the transparency of your story will give people courage to make the change they need to make, regardless of what kind. Changing for your kids is wonderful, changing for you is priceless. So glad to be getting to know you.
