Every year my kids are “dying” for some spooky foods for the Halloween vibe. Every year I do my best to fulfill their thrilling requests. It seems that also every year these Halloween Mortified Mummy Dogs are requested like clock work. The Halloween decorations come out, we make our spider webs and pumpkin faces and it’s like all at once they say “MOM!! We need the mummies!!”. So we make these mummy dogs and they scarf them down and we continue on. Im glad that we have great traditions in our home and I can not wait (ok maybe I can) until they do these with their kids. (way, way, WAY down the road!!)
Halloween Mortified Mummy Dogs
Here is what you will need to start your mummy dogs.
1 Can of Pillsbury Crescent Rolls – get coupons for these!
1 package of hot dogs – I use the Oscar Meyer ones myself but any will work.
Black Writing gel – optional
Cookie Sheet
Wax Paper – you could also just spray the cookie sheet with cooking spray, I find it make the rolls slimy however.
Knife or Pizza Cutter
Roll out the crescent rolls on the wax paper (Of course this is AFTER you have your spouse or child open the can for you. Those things scare me every time!)
Use a knife or a pizza cutter to divide the dough into strips.
lay the hot dogs on each squared section and start over lapping the strips. They do not have to be perfect, after all they are mummies. Wrap the hot dog in all directions and be sure to tuck the ends under the back.
Pop them all in the oven and back according to the Pillsbury Crescent roll package, Oven at 375 for about 17 minutes.
Let the hot dogs cool for about 2 minutes and then if you so desire, use black writing gel to put eyes on your Halloween Mummy Dogs! Serve to your kids and enjoy!
